Trap Metal Artist.
Gizmo, born and raised in Jamestown, Rhode Island, grew up immersed in nature, the ocean, and the adrenaline of skateboarding. His early years were shaped by hunting and fishing, a connection to the outdoors that would later influence his music. Raised on a steady diet of ‘90s and early 2000s alt-rock, metal, reggae, and rap—artists like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Waka Flocka Flame, and Gucci Mane—his musical tastes were as diverse as his influences.
In 2012, he began experimenting with rap music on SoundCloud, but it wasn’t until 2014 that he officially adopted the moniker “Gizmo.” As he became more involved in the underground scene, he built connections with artists like Prohibeo, Lil Peep, Craig Xen, Bones, Killstation, Dylan Ross and Freddie Dredd—figures who inspired and helped shape his artistic journey.
By 2015, he was at the forefront of a rising movement, among the first ten artists experimenting with what would become known as “Trap Metal” or “Scream Rap.” As one of the genre’s originators, he helped lay the groundwork for a raw, aggressive sound that pushed the boundaries of rap and metal.
